Cultural role of mosques

The Siam Society is holding a panel discussion on "Mosque: Mirroring Home of the 'Thai' Heart," on November 23, 1pm, at the society's auditorium.
The seminar, part of the Siamese Heritage Protection Programme to commemorate the 84th birthday of His Majesty the King, aims to explore the cultural role of the mosque in integrating community members in Thai society.
Panellists at the event, which will be conducted in Thai, include Prof Chaiwat Satha-anand, lecturer at Thammasat University's Faculty of Political Science; Julispong Chularatana, lecturer at Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Arts; Asst Prof Adis Idris Raksamanee, lecturer at Kasem Bundit University's Faculty of Architecture; Dr Pechdau Tomeena, director of Mental Health Centre 15 (Southern border provinces); and Kong Rithdee, film critic and columnist of the Bangkok Post.
