Paris Spa pioneers a new approach for youthful-looking skin

Starting as a beauty parlour specialising in French facials, today Paris Spa offers face, hair and body treatments for a complete head-to-toe pampering. Its expertise in delivering facials has attracted a steady stream of clients who come for Thalgo treatments at its outlets located at the Peninsula Plaza and the Alma Link Building.
The double mask technique involves placing strips of a pre-cut mask on wrinkled areas before a cooling gel mask is layered onto the face and neck.
As Thalgo has launched a new age-defying skincare range, the spa has revised its menu to include three new facials to cater to clients of different age groups.
"Body and skin functions start to slow down in your 20s but we don't see its effect straight away. So having anti-ageing facials from the age of 25 and caring for the skin will help delay signs of ageing," said Thalgo international training manager, Joanne Mazztelli, who was in Bangkok to introduce the new spa approach for youthful-looking skin.
The 25-30 age group are recommended to have the Collagen Smooth Treatment, which addresses first wrinkles and expression lines. As wrinkles become more noticeable in your 30s, the Hyaluronic Filler Treatment has been designed for this age group. Troubled by deeper wrinkles plus sagging skin, those between the ages of 40 and 50 need the Silicium Super-Lift Treatment.

Thalgo is a French company known for harnessing the science of seaweed and blending marine active ingredients into skincare products. To keep pace with cosmetic procedures, it drew inspiration from collagen and hyaluronic injections at the dermatologist's office to develop the facials but of course results are not as dramatic.
"At the dermatologist's office, cosmetic procedures give quick results but can be aggressive as there may be skin peeling afterwards," Mazztelli noted. "Spa facials are gentler and consider soothing the skin after a treatment especially with rehydration. And the skin needs to be rehydrated just like a flower needs water to bring it back to life."
A course of facials is recommended and that comes with a coffret containing spa products for six treatments. The Hyarulonic Filler coffret for instance comes with six tubes of hyaluronic filler, six sheet of pre-cut mask and a tube of hyaluronic gel mask.
The 90-minute Hyaluronic Filler facial starts off with deep cleansing, followed by exfoliating the skin with Resurfacing Cream. After applying the hyaluronic filler on areas with lines and wrinkles, such as the forehead, crow's feet and laughter lines, the therapist gives the skin a Dermastim massage, administered with stimulating massage techniques to enhance the absorption of the filler.
The following Double Mask technique involves placing the pre-cut mask strips on wrinkled areas and the hyaluronic cooling gel mask is layered on the skin of the face and neck and left there for 20 minutes.
After wiping off the double mask, the skin is toned and moisturised, and the facial rounds off with a shot of fruity-flavoured beauty drink.
Also requiring at least six treatments, the Silicium Super-Lift Facial involves a double hyaluronic and cryo-sculpting mask to fill deep wrinkles and reshape the face. In addition, gauze dressing is used for a mechanical face-lift.
The new skincare formulas and Thalgo's facial techniques really make a difference, Mazztelli affirmed, and moreover, the anti-ageing approach is to nourish the skin from the outside, as well inside by drinking the Collagen booster containing marine collagen, vitamins C and E.
"The spa facial provides an intensive treatment and it is followed by using skincare products on a daily basis," she said. "Compared to using skincare products for a month, taking the supplements for 10 days can give better and faster results."

GIVE THE SKIN A LIFT

Wrinkles and expression lines can come in your 20s and the skin begins to need more than a good moisturiser. The 30's brings more noticeable wrinkles and hopefully that high-performance anti-ageing cream can fight back.
If not, be prepared for the falling 40's when a collapse in the skin structure results in deeper wrinkles and skin slackening.

Half way to being a centenarian, the 50-something may celebrate with more signs of ageing becoming prominent on the lower half of the face, such as laughter lines and a sagging facial contour.
But beyond the age of 60, why bother about wrinkles because not having them can be weird.
Still people want to look good at any age and anti-ageing skincare products are always coming out with the promise of youthful skin.
Skincare brands make it easy for you to step up your beauty regime with formulas to help ageing skin get through the years.
Estee Lauder first anti-ageing cream was introduced in 1956, and thereafter the Re-Nutriv line was thought to be a lifting formula for mature skin. Launched this month, Re-Nutriv Replenishing Comfort Creme Light has been formulated for women in their late 20's to start off an anti-ageing skincare regime. Suitable for dry and delicate skin, the cream contains Omega3 Phyto complex to nourish the skin.
To combat signs of ageing in the 30s, Darphin recommends Ideal Resource Smoothing Retexturizing Radiance Cream with the Line Polish Complex: a blend of white hibiscus, Centella asiatica, and knotweed extracts.
The 40-something needs to refirm the skin and reshape the face. Thalgo Silicium Programme has three formulas, all containing marine silicium as a key ingredient to help soften wrinkles and help give the skin a lift.
